Getting To Know Phil Wilson
Phil Wilson has been in affiliate marketing since 2014, but he created “Legit Marketing Reviews” in the middle of 2020. The story behind is channel name is based on what people are commonly searching for regarding the industry. More importantly, he tries not to sugarcoat the reviews he’s giving to prevent his viewers from buying bad software.
Phil considers himself a software addict which led him to this business. The idea that software can either heavily reduce time spent on a business, help increase sales, or even automate a business inspired him. He then found a way to satisfy his software addiction and justify playing around with new software all day.
With the competition he’s facing, Phil Wilson tries to be unique by simply providing the best possible experience for his viewers. He also added that quality audio, good video, and giving examples of how the product being reviewed can help benefit people's business are key.
The Start-Up Journey of Phil Wilson
Phil Wilson built his customer base all organically. He spent a lot of time learning about SEO and the YouTube algorithm to rank #1 on the search for his content keywords. With his persistence, he now ranks for dozens of videos on both Google and YouTube. Organic SEO for YouTube is the marketing strategy that has worked best for his business.
Phil believes that a lot of business is an experience with people within a network. That is why he always makes sure to check his phone for emails, comments, and collaborations. “The faster you can reply, the better,” he added.
Phil Wilson as an Entrepreneur
Phil’s favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur is freedom. He was able to travel for 5 years and experience the world while generating income. Despite these perks, Phil also faced challenges when he was starting, just like everybody else.
It was hard for him to overcome his fear and self-worth. There were several times where he compared himself to others and wondered why anyone would listen to him. There was also a lot of negative input from peers when he was just starting.
Nonetheless, Phil pushed through and was able to overcome these struggles by keeping his eye on the prize. He started going deep into personal development. Three books helped him get through that pace.
He listened to "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kyosaki, it taught him that a normal job would never help him break free from the average life. He was also inspired to build something in an automated way to experience things around the world by listening to the “4-hour workweek” from Tim Ferris. Then finally, "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho taught him persistence and perseverance.
Phil highly recommends these books for those who want to break free from being in a rut.
Phil in His Own Words
Q: What motivates you?
A: Right now, providing a life for my family which brings the best opportunities for my son and keeps my wife happy (she has expensive taste).
Q: How do you generate new ideas?
A: I'm always researching and learning from new courses, which usually leads to new ideas. I've got a million ideas in my head, but don't have the time to pursue them, so it can be a little frustrating, but regardless, I love sharing them with friends!
Q: How was being an entrepreneur affected your personal life?
A: It's completely changed me. To be honest, I was a bit of a party boy before I decided to stop drinking my worries away. Now, I find myself less involved with the party, and more involved with bettering my health, working on my fitness, and hanging around people who are also in the entrepreneurial scene.
Q: What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage it?
A: Tough question, I guess the fear of my businesses not working. I manage it by always making multiple streams of income, so if one business fails, others can continue to bring in income.
Q: As a business owner, what are your top three priorities?
A: Traffic, Growth, and Conversions
